How to Identify the Right Kit
Seal kits are not interchangeable between cylinders, even when the bore matches. Three identifiers, in order of reliability:
1. Cylinder model and serial number. If the nameplate is readable, the OEM or an aftermarket supplier can pull the exact BOM. This is the fastest and least error-prone path.
2. Bore and rod diameter. Measure the inside diameter of the barrel (bore) and the outside diameter of the rod with calipers. These two dimensions narrow the kit family decisively, because seal cross-sections follow the bore–rod pairing.
3. The old seals themselves. When the nameplate is gone and the cylinder is non-standard, send the removed seals (or clear photos with dimensions) for profile matching. A hardened or broken seal still carries its cross-section, which is what matters.
Also note the working conditions before ordering: system pressure, fluid type, and any temperature extremes. A kit that fits dimensionally but uses the wrong compound fails on schedule instead of early — it still fails.
Material Selection: NBR, PU or FKM
Kit materials should be chosen by fluid and temperature, not by habit:

Installation and Failure Prevention
A kit is only as good as the rebuild. The failure patterns that come back within months almost always trace to installation, not the seals:
- Deburr and clean everything. One metal chip dragged across a new rod seal starts a leak path on day one.
- Lubricate before assembly. Coat seals and grooves with clean system fluid; never install dry.
- Mind the direction. Rod seal lips face the pressure; installing one backwards gives instant bypass. Profile drawings in the kit documentation show orientation.
