Neoprene Rubber Gaskets (Chloroprene / CR)
CR chloroprene flat seals for ozone, UV, marine and refrigeration service. Custom cut and sheet stock.
Overview
Types
Marine & Outdoor CR Gaskets
UV and ozone-stabilized neoprene for continuous outdoor exposure and salt spray.
Best for: Hatch seals, deck hardware, outdoor cabinets, marine engine covers
Refrigeration Gaskets
CR compounds formulated for compatibility with legacy and HFC refrigerants.
Best for: Compressor flanges, access panels, cold-room doors
HVAC Enclosure Gaskets
Compressible neoprene for equipment doors and access panels.
Best for: Air handling units, rooftop units, filter housings

Frequently Asked Questions
Is neoprene the same as chloroprene?
Yes. Neoprene is the DuPont trade name for polychloroprene rubber; CR is the ISO/ASTM abbreviation. Neoprene gasket and chloroprene gasket refer to the same elastomer family.
Are neoprene gaskets weather resistant?
Yes. CR has excellent resistance to ozone, UV and oxidation, making it a standard choice for outdoor and marine gaskets.
Can neoprene gaskets be used with refrigerants?
Neoprene is compatible with many refrigerants including R-22 and several HFC blends. Always verify compatibility with the specific refrigerant and lubricant before specifying.
How does neoprene compare to NBR for oil resistance?
NBR is superior for petroleum oil and fuel. Neoprene offers moderate oil resistance plus much better ozone and weather resistance, so it is preferred when outdoor exposure is part of the requirement.
What is the best gasket material for marine saltwater exposure?
EPDM and CR neoprene are both good choices. CR adds moderate oil resistance, which can be useful in engine compartments. EPDM is preferred for pure water and steam exposure.
