FFKM (perfluoroelastomer) is the highest-performance elastomer for semiconductor process equipment — surviving plasma etch, high-temperature CVD, and aggressive wet chemistries (HF, H2O2, HNO3) where FKM and FEP-jacketed seals fail.

FFKM vs FKM in fabs
FKM handles many wet benches and subfab utilities at lower cost. FFKM is justified when: (1) plasma exposure causes rapid FKM degradation; (2) temperatures exceed +220°C at the seal line; (3) ultra-low outgassing and metal ion content are specified for sub-10 nm nodes.
Cost reality — FFKM O-rings cost 50–100× NBR. Use FFKM only where validated life data proves FKM cannot meet the PM interval.

When plasma exposure, temperature above +200°C, or specific wet chemistries reduce FKM life below the tool PM interval. Run side-by-side validation or request OEM BOM specification before downgrading from FFKM.
Are FFKM O-rings interchangeable with Kalrez?
FFKM is the polymer family; Kalrez is a DuPont trade name. Equivalent compounds can match performance if compound designation and cure system are validated for your process chemistry — provide OEM part number for cross-reference.
What purity documentation is available?
We supply batch CoC, outgassing per ASTM E595, and metal ion content by ICP-MS for ultra-high-purity grades on request. Specify node generation and tool OEM requirements at quote.
Can FFKM O-rings be used in dynamic motion?
FFKM handles short-stroke valve motion in gas systems. For high-speed reciprocating motion, prefer spring-energized PTFE or specialized FFKM lip seals — solid FFKM O-rings have limited abrasion resistance.
How to store FFKM seals in a fab?
Store in original sealed bags at 15–25°C, away from UV and ozone. FFKM shelf life exceeds 10 years. Do not wipe with IPA before install unless validated — some grades absorb solvent temporarily.
